Item was exactly as advertised, very easy to install as I was replacing an exisiting smaller PetSafe Door. Instructions were very easy to read and understand.

I replaced my Ideal Aluminum doggy door (which I had for 7 years and was great) with this one, because my 15 Siberian Husky has arthritis in the spine, and her back leg was catching up on it. Therefore, I needed to lower the doggy door closer to the bottom of the door as possible. Thus, I had to buy a larger door to compensate for the top length (tallness) that would be lost as a result of lowering the doggy door. Since this was the largest one I could find, I decided to give it a try and see if it would resolve the problem. It did.

I like this one just fine EXCEPT for one thing, which is that the 'flap' is dark tinted. This is causing my dog confusion as her other one was clear; therefore, she thinks that it has the 'block' in it. I'm sure this won't be a problem for dogs who have never used a doggy door before or had one that was dark tinted. I wish there was an option for it to be just clear without the dark tint. In time, I'm sure she will come to realize that there isn't any obstruction, but I don't like the fact that she stood there and urinated in front of the door, because she thought it was blocked/obstructed. Wiping the urine up wasn't a problem for me, but I know my dog didn't appreciate it, especially thinking that I'm blocking her from going outside and forcing her to urinate in front of the door.

I wish we had bought this a long time ago! We have a Border Collie, a miniature Dachshund and a Beagle, and they all learned how to use it right away (the mini dachshund learned the quickest) and they all fit through it perfectly! My husband was against installing it because he was sure we would lose heat in the winter (we live in VT) and our kitchen is one of the coldest rooms in our house (where the door is that we were going to use for it) but I convinced him to install it because we were going to be gone for a couple of days and that way the dogs could go in and out as they needed. He said he wished he'd have installed it years ago! We could have saved ourselves a lot of "clean-ups" and especially since our Border Collie is getting old and not able to control his bladder like he used to. Every once in a while, I need to clean the edges of the door to keep the seal good but we can't feel any cold air coming in around it in the winter. I had debated on buying a more heavy-duty door because of VT winters but am very glad I went with this model. And the price was 1/2 of what I would have paid at the local pet store! (I checked) I love it!
